A top-notch country pub with...

Liked: The room was beautifully decorated in a suitable 'country pub' style and was very well equipped. The bed, pillows and bedding were all of high quality and led to a very good night's rest. The food was very good, both dinner and breakfast. Overall, this experience was a very significant step-ahead of anywhere else I could imagine at this price-point in the area. I applaud Young's Rooms for their programme of upgrading similar pubs across the south of England.

Liked: Staff were lovely and friendly. Room was huge and air conditioned. Beds were comfortable. Food at the pub was nice with a varied menu. Breakfast was large portions. Lots of parking. Nice places to sit inside and outside. Not far away from the Harry Potter experience near Watford but felt very rural there. They have other rooms set away from the pub which were probably much quieter.
Disliked: There was an event on in the room below our bedroom (room 9) and in the garden beside our window. Not informed of this until I checked in and it was too late to make other arrangements. Band went on until 10.30 then other music until 12. So we didn't get the best night's sleep. I did mention it in the morning and the girl on reception apologised but it did spoil our experience.
