Bayside Hotel Of Mackinac

Not a bad choice if...

Liked: Have been coming up to Mackinaw city for the past 10 years. Have stayed at multiple hotels in the area. This one works good for location to ferry dock and waterpark for the kids. Rooms were somewhat updated last year. It’s a good value for the money if you’re able to look past wear and tear on rooms.
Disliked: The room had a musty smell to it. Carpets definitely need to be cleaned and a window that opened would help let fresh air in the room. Pool and hot tub were not very clean as well.

Liked: The room was nice and comfortable.
Disliked: It said that breakfast was included, but all they offered was a coupon for a local restaurant that was available for anyone to pick up. The coupon was for a buy one get one buffet. I was traveling alone so I wasn't able to use it. Also stated that it was a water view, but was not. I asked about the pool. The pool did not open until 2:00 p.m. The woman at the desk said that if I "needed" to use the pool, I could go to the hotel next door and use theirs after 10:00 a.m.

Disliked: It was mentioned on the site while i booked, that this hotel has facility of morning breakfast, actually they do not provide that, second morning coffee was served at 8 am for me it was too late. No microwave in the room,

Liked: This was one of the cheapest hotels in Mackinaw City but, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
Disliked: It was a weird atmosphere. It seems like there is a large(more than 10) family who lives at the hotel. Their personal items were in random places. The bathroom was gross. It looked like someone splattered something on the ceiling and it was never cleaned. The TV didn’t work the first night. This hotel said that they have no connection with booking.com and they didn’t have any of my credit card info. This is the only hotel I’ve stayed at that I had to provide my credit card to after reserving through booking.com.
