Exceptional

Good basic hotel in downtown...

Liked: This hotel is located in the lower downtown area. We were visiting relatives who live nearby to the hotel, so it was a good location for our stay. It was very spacious. Two separate bedrooms, one with an air-conditioner and balcony, the second one only has a ceiling fan, there are two separate bathrooms, a kitchen area, and a living room area. The couch is very comfortable and there are 3 TV's in the unit with regular cable channels. Another nice feature is the underground parkade which accommodated our truck. Very nice staff, friendly and smiling at all times.
Disliked: The bed mattress was a bit firm for me. The bathroom sinks only have a small areas for setting up toiletries. It was a bit warm in the unit during these transitional days of spring as we did not use the wall air-conditioner. There wasn't a sit down breakfast. The hotel provides a bagged breakfast for take-away to your room or to heat and serve in a small dining area near the reception desk. Coffee is provided in the eating area.

Disappointing

Liked: Fort McMurray itself is a pleasant city
Disliked: The hotel is clean and the staff are generally polite. However, the description of a "very good breakfast" is misleading—it was just a packed meal handed over by the receptionist, and it’s doubtful there’s even a functioning kitchen on-site. Also, the noise level was quite high, both from inside the hotel and the surrounding area, which made it difficult to relax.

Liked: The room was private and spacious. Staff were exceptional and awesome breakfasts each morning.
Disliked: Parking was difficult for a work truck. However staff were very accommodating.

Liked: Staff were fabulous, it was very clean
Disliked: Heater in the room was on the wall 12 inches away from the bed. Where you lay your head. Minus 36 and every time the Heater went on we woke up. The room was really meant for a single person. No night table on one side or light.
