Great location wasted on an...

Liked: The location and the view was wonderful. Very easy walk to Te Papa and Oriental Bay. Plus great supermarket just over the road.
Disliked: It was odd that the tea and coffee were in the wardrobe. I didn't have a hot drink on my first night because I didn't look in the wardrobe. I also did not like the loud bathroom fan which seemed to be on a set timer I couldn't control.

Superb

Downtown location handy to lots...

Liked: The location downtown made accessing where we needed to go in the city fairly easy (once we got used to how to get around the nearby roadworks which made accessing the hotel slightly tricky). The hotel is near lots of restaurants and cafes. The room was reasonably spacious, and we appreciated that there were two easy chairs. The pillows provided just the right amount of support. The bed was quite firm but still comfortable. Being able to open the windows helped deal with the ventilation and over-heating issues. The on-site parking availability was excellent.
Disliked: When you book a downtown hotel that is next to a fire station, there is going to be some traffic noise - but some of it was quite loud and it started at about 5.30am. Quite a few channels on the TV were so full of static they were unwatchable. The view of the harbour was lovely but the windows rattled. There was condensation on the windows in the morning. In the bathroom the cabinetry had a lot of chips and did not seem to have an effective ventilation system. The carpet felt crunchy underfoot, weird to walk on in bare feet.
