Bavarian Manor Country Inn and Restaurant

Superb

Liked: The hotel is a beautiful historical manor .Very nicely decorated and comfortable. It is perfectly located close to all our hiking trails. The only disappointment the restaurant was close and it wasn't specified while we were booking. It's not a big problem. We just had to go back to town for dinner..We were traveling with two dogs, which one is a service animal and the other still in training and we all were warmly welcome.We will be back.

We appreciated the old fashioned...

Liked: For our purposes the location was ideal as we had planned to attend the 4th of July fireworks in Cairo. The hotel is charming with an interesting history. Each room has a different decor and while very basic has everything one needs. Located on a back road and with a lake behind the hotel the vibe is peaceful and serene. Breakfast was simple but did offer a variety of fresh fruit and the coffee was very good. We enjoyed our morning meal and a bit of reading on the wrap around porch which was delightful.
Disliked: We were a little disappointed that there is no longer a restaurant or bar on premises which would have enabled us to meet and mingle with other guests. Television service was not available during our stay but we could well do without for a day or two. And while we appreciate efforts to minimize waste there was no hand soap in the room. (Fortunately we had brought our own).

Liked: Very quirky establishment straight out of The Shining. Must have been a gem in its heyday and the pictures on the walls and misc. bric a brac was charming. It was odd to us that the staff left around 2pm and we were simply left a key on the front desk but that was no bother. Wifi was good. Free bottled water as tap water was from nearby sulfurous well. Great to sit on the porch with a cocktail and a cheese plate.
Disliked: Seemed to have missed the 'free' breakfast.

Exceptional

Liked: Liked everything. Combination of excellent infrastructure with the feeling that everything was from early 1900s. The rooms were super-comfy and very well equipped for the 21st century. Wrap around porch with great seating and views made me feel as though it is the1920s. Very quiet location, very close to the Log Cabin Cafe - most excellent menu, food prepared with attention.
Disliked: Napes. Didn't not like anything at all.

Lousy

Disliked: There is no TV, the restaurant and bar were closed, the hotel was extremely old, and the floors were weak. The place was somewhat dilapidated. Also, the toaster for our breakfast was not working, and the bananas were not ripe. No one else was in the hotel.

It’s nice to meet pleasant...

Liked: The host was very polite, answered all questions and made our accommodations while there very pleasant.
Disliked: The restaurant/bar were closed at the time.
