Bartley Lodge Hotel

Great location everything else average.

Liked: Great location, pool was nice. Bar staff lovely
Disliked: Front of house staff very unhelpful and a bit rude. It was 24 degrees and the rooms were absolutely sweltering even with a fan. Made it unbearable to be in the room. Breakfast emptied very quickly and no refill of food

Disliked: Room 20 was uncomfortably hot, had a boiler in the bathroom, we asked to be moved and was moved to room 2, much better

A lovely relaxing stay

Beautiful building and location but...

Liked: Beautiful old building in a gorgeous location. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely. Staff were lovely.
Disliked: Service was extremely slow. We waited almost an hour for breakfast and there was no cutlery, bowls or plates in the buffet area. Filter coffee was cold and weak. Staff were lovely but they were clearly rushed off their feet. No AC in the room and was very hot although a fan was provided. Nice shower but the ceiling shower was scalding hot even on the coldest setting so had to use the handheld mixer shower head instead. The room was nice but needed some attention, sofabed for example was stained and dirty. Overall we enjoyed our stay but expected better for the money and don't think I would stay here again.

Very average, room too hot,...

Liked: Location was great
Disliked: Room was too hot, no aircon just a fan so family didn't sleep well. Bathroom nice but taps weren't working properly. Breakfast took over 45min to be served and there weren't even many people in restaurant. When we received breakfast, it included milk in scrambled eggs after specifying we had a milk allergy. As a result of late breakfast we ran late to check out on time and were late for our activities.

Disliked: Room was very dated and needed a real touch up. Lots of scratch marks and dents in the walls and bath had paint all over. Light fitting was off the wall and room was unbearably hot

Disliked: Unhelpful receptionist, never anyone on reception. Stained sheets. It’s dog friendly but you aren’t allowed in all areas. Overpriced for very dated rooms.

Fantastic location & hotel

Liked: Beautiful place, with fantastic gardens for little ones to enjoy. The rooms were lovely & quaint, fantastic period property with tons of character. I have to say, I was genuinely excited when I arrived, from the initial drive in, so seeing the place as a whole. Stunning. Unfortunately, did not catch the receptionist name, but she was delightful, making us feel very welcomed & going out of her way to offer everything we needed.
Disliked: Small things, a couple of areas that may need a bit of upkeep/maintenance. Kids cutlery was available, however we were not offered this until breakfast, which we didn't actually receive but made do.
