Excellent choice for a few...

Liked: Staff were quite nice and offered us a room change when we had an issue. The grounds are nice and they have on site parking. Would recommend a car but location was great for exploring. Felt safe regards Covid
Disliked: Upon arrival we had a large double room which was a good size. The windows could have done with a good clean and the bathroom wasn't the nicest. Considering over £100 a night, I'd expect better. We had that room for 3 nights as on the 2nd the hot water stopped working and they couldn't resolve the issue so moved us to what I believe was maybe a deluxe room. Much nicer, newly done up and clean. But it was opposite some sort of shed on the grounds and we were woken early every morning with people collecting or dumping things into it. We only ate one meal in the restaurant which was the first night. The food was ok but for the price I expected a bit better. The bar area had a lovely fireplace but unfortunately this was only lit on one occasion, given the weather was fairly miserable I think it would have been lovely to sit near it in the evening with a drink but we ventured elsewhere for the cosy experience.

Disliked: Firstly some context, we booked this stay as the pictures looked beautiful and we wanted to get away for the night for the first anniversary of my father in law passing. The room was terrible and nothing like the pictures we was given the worst room I have ever stayed in. Wasn?t clean there were chocolate wrappers from previous guests on the windowsill.... holes in bed sheets.... absolutely no water pressure in the shower. Needless to say it was worst than a cheap travel lodge. We contacted management who took a week to contact me and offered us 50% off so they could do it right. I know they wanted us to pay 150% so they could do it right one time! Then when I asked the actual manager to contact me which I was told would happen has not happened. Not surprised really, this hotel is run by people with no people skills and quite frankly I think that they are advertising rooms that they can?t fulfill. Shocking, terrible and dirty. All whilst a pandemic is going on! Good job Bartley Lodge
