Location was great!!!

Liked: Breakfast was average but plentiful. Location was between King st/restaurants and the tourist area.
Disliked: I wish they did a better job on continuous maintenance.

Will be back.

Liked: Everything was great. To the staff, treats, atmosphere. I?ve found a new reason to go to Charleston. The Barksdale Inn was fabulous!!!
Disliked: Better instructions to location of parking lot for inn. There is a paying parking lot right next to inn. Confusing

Old inn in perfect location...

Liked: We arrived early and got a warm friendly greeting from Tyler. She gave us great directions to everywhere we wanted to visit. Our room was in the carriage house and was large and suited our needs. Breakfast in the lovely back porch room had many choices. The location was perfect-we did not use our car after we arrived and easily walked everywhere.
Disliked: A better shower would be a plus! There is a garden/patio area at the rear of the house that has so much potential but was not well kept unfortunately. Would love to see that improved!

Manager, Tyler, set the tone:...

Liked: Besides being efficient, effective and accommodating, each staff member (thank you, Blaire) is also warm, welcoming and full of helpful local information. Our carriage room #11 was comfortable, AC was wonderful for the incredibly hot days. The shower needed a little tinkering, and was fixed immediately. A Kurig coffee maker was always available in the carriage house entry, along with a daily sweet. The daily breakfast, in the main house, had great choices of fruits, protein and carbs. Afternoon tea included iced sweet tea and coffee, a little wine, and creative hors d?oeuvers.
Disliked: For a 5 night stay, rm. #11 does not have drawers so we lived out of our suit cases on the floor; the bathroom sink is a pedestal and has no counter space, and the beautiful antique bed is no longer appropriate for a quite sleep.

Exceptional

Liked: The staff was very friendly and accommodating, provided us with information about places to go while we were in Charleston. The room itself was very nice and was what I expected when staying in a historic house in Charleston.
Disliked: The only thing I didn't enjoy was the water pressure in the shower and the sink. I stayed in the Carriage House and the water pressure was very weak, making it difficult to shower and feel clean after long days in the humidity and at the beach.

Will return in the fall...

Liked: The staff was wonderful! Very helpful giving us insight on resturants and site seeing. The breakfast was buffet style and served from 8am to 10am. Each morning fresh fruit, egg dish, grits ( a southern must!) a various bagels, danish and breads. Every afternoon there was light food to refresh after a day of sight seeing including iced coffee, which we really needed to recharge for the evening ahead. Would recommend this highly to anyone who loves old houses and bed and breakfast style home away from homes!

Exceptional

Liked: The complimentary breakfast was better than those at hotels. Location was good. We would definitely stay again :)
Disliked: The only improvement would be the back patio/garden area.
