Great place; great price; nothing fancy but all you need for a place to crash after a show.

Liked: Great price for Vancouver and satisfactorily nice and clean inside relative to the price! The pub downstairs was great too - awesome people working the bar.

Barclay hotel vacay

Liked: The price and the location was excellent. The staff were friendly. There was soap, shampoo provided, and clean towels. We had a "suite" so it was roomy.
Disliked: There was no air conditioning in the room. The room needed some cosmetic repairs for chipped paint and such.

Overall ok but some things...

Liked: The location was awesome and the room was roomy and comfortable
Disliked: Wi-fi was volatile - at times it would not connect at all. The elevator was out of action for some renovations. Thank god it was not hot during my stay because the air conditioning box in the window at times made a really loud noise. When I first heard it, I thought someone was operating a jack hammer next door but no it was the air conditioning. Thankfully I did not need it on at night thanks to the mild weather but I pity the next guest who is there on a hot night. Take some ear plugs. I did take the wifi and ac issues up with the staff and they acknowledged the issues were real but I felt that it was beyond their control to fix these things.

Disappointing

Liked: The staff was very friendly and attentive — they always responded quickly to our requests. The location is definitely a big plus: everything we needed was within walking distance.
Disliked: The room and common areas were a bit dusty — probably due to the ongoing renovations and the overall wear of the building.

Travelers Beware!

Liked: The location was really the only good part of this hotel. It was close to a whole lot of shopping and restaurants within walking distance.
Disliked: The night before we flew out I received notification that the hotel did NOT have elevators but it was too late to change hotels without payment in full. We were traveling for 2 weeks and had a decent amount of large luggage for the 4 of us. It was up 2 sets of steps and then down another set to get to the rooms. Our room was broken up very oddly - 2 beds in 2 separate rooms with an opening in the wall between them. The second room had no night stand and nothing but a bed. The bathroom was tint with very little room for any cosmetics. There was a big scaffold right outside our room and they started working at 7 AM. There was a little window Our traveling companions had a more conventional room with 2 beds. The place was run down and apparently under construction. There was a trip hazard just walking away from the front desk. Then you had to be aware of the electric cables along the floor. The ice machine was on the 3rd floor which was up another set of stairs. It wasn't an accurate representation in the listing at all! Travelers beware of this one!!!
