Barclay Hotel

Great place; great price; nothing fancy but all you need for a place to crash after a show.

Liked: Great price for Vancouver and satisfactorily nice and clean inside relative to the price! The pub downstairs was great too - awesome people working the bar.

It's decent for the price...

Liked: Great location. Good price for downtown Vancouver.
Disliked: The building is old. No elevator so you have to carry your luggage, Lots of the sections are under renovation

Liked: It’s was all great clean & tidy. Easy to shops city centre.
Disliked: There was no breakfast room unless it was part of the refit & building. Hence no breakfast room.

A convenient one night stay...

Liked: Location. Nice large, newly renovated room.
Disliked: No elevator, under renovations.

Convenient for the days we...

Liked: Barclay Hotel was on a good, direct bus route to the cruise ship terminal and there were plenty of eating places within easy walk of the hotel. Due to renovations going on in the complex it was not an easy job to get to our room but thankfully staff were willing to help with bags. The room was very small and we were surprised to have to ask for a kettle cups and cutlery so we could make a simple cup of tea. They were provided willingly but believe all rooms should be provided with these facilities without having to ask. The decor is very dated; maybe with the renovations, some modernising could be done to the older rooms.
Disliked: No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. There may have been a separate bedroom with a double bed, but it was so tight that there was no room around the bed. We slept in the bed in the lounge/sitting area.

Liked: Room was clean and spacious and hotel is in a great location.
Disliked: There was no parking available at the hotel but advertises parking is available at the property and was one of the reasons we’d booked as we picked up our car at the airport. There is a lot of building work ongoing and whilst we were warned about this in advance, workers started extremely early(before 7am).

Liked: The room was spacious and clean and the staff friendly.
Disliked: The hotel was in the process of a major renovation and whilst I was told there was no lift I was not warned of the building work beforehand.Demolition was also going on next door and so very noisy during the day.
