Lovely hotel, perfect location

Liked: We had adjoining rooms for two adults and two older teenagers, a corner king and a queen, on the top floor. Fabulous views from the balconies of the surrounding mountains and even the Bow River, which was a 2 min walk away. Supermarket and Bear St/Banff Avenue shops, galleries and restaurants were also 2 min away. Catholic church or Presbytarian church a 5 min walk. There is ample free parking for hotel guests in the basement. We only used our car to drive to Sunshine (15 min) and one day to Lake Louise (40 min). Everything in Banff was easy walking distance.Our rooms were really spacious and comfortable, with good strong showers, a small fridge, microwave and kettle. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was amazing, and there were also a-la-carte options.We opted out of daily housekeeping and were rewarded with $5 restaurant vouchers per room per night - $130 - well worth it!! And we were still able to ask for anything we ran out of or needed.

Liked: Ground florr room so on going work and lack of lifts did not affect me.Easy access to ski hire from Black Tie Rentals.
Disliked: Shame about on going work to upgrade. I suspect I will prefer the older style decor of the entrance to the proposed new glossy entrance area.

Disliked: They overcharged my card on the first day by over $800, there were toe nails on the night stand in our room, when charging out breakfast to my credit card a tip was added twice without my knowledge or permission, had to pay again on checkout, with the construction and elevator down it’s quite a far walk to get to your room. What has been our family hotel for the past four years will likely no longer be the case after this stay.
