Liked: Lovely setting and estate.
Disliked: Our room was pleasant but….There were no tea and coffee making facilities’ no safe, no TV (which didn’t bother us but others might expect in a €400 a night hotel) and no toiletries for use in the bath (they were screwed to the wall in the shower). When we asked fortoiletries we were provided with bath salts and a bar of soap. There is no AC but we didn’t ask for a fan.We ate dinner on our first night (of 4). The food was underwhelming - ordinary country fare you might expect in a pub - and we waited over 30 mins for our main course. We cancelled our booking for the following evening. Breakfast was reasonable although they got our order wrong on the first two mornings. The scrambled eggs were actually an omelette. The staff were generally pleasant although several of the waiting staff were wearing dirty uniforms and one had her hem held up with pins.We were only advised at the last minute that we would be arriving during the Ballymaloe food festival.Overall, very disappointing with the hotel obviously trading on past reputation and glory.
