Ballathie House Hotel

Very good

Overall our stay was good...

Liked: The grounds were beautiful and well kept.Ideal for taking a dog
Disliked: The breakfast wasn’t up to our usual standard there was plenty of choice and the quality was good but it was serve yourself and food was lukewarm.

Exceptional

Great location, but over priced,...

Liked: Staff trying hard although most have only been there within the last 3 months. The Hotel itself is now very tired and a serious amount of investment is needed in the building and rooms.I have been coming to the hotel for the last twenty years and its clear work needs to be done, I am afraid its unlikely I will return unless the place is up graded.
Disliked: Breakfast was always served directly from the kitchen, now its help yourself. As a Fisher the store room was full of clutter and little room to dry your kit over night.

Poor service at dinner. Unacceptably...

Liked: Breakfast.
Disliked: Had booked dinner for two nights. On first night waited 35 minutes for first course - steak tartare so no cooking involve - then a further 35 minutes for my main course. I cancelled my booking for the second night. Also my room was little bigger than a broom cupboard. If you sat on the loo you were at risk of burning your knees on the radiator! I will not be returning.

Lovely, just a few simple...

Liked: Stayed at the Riverside apartments. Lovely location with a view of the Tay, comfy bed and great location for Scone Palace. Breakfast was outstanding, never had such nicely cooked food at a hotel breakfast buffet. The sausages especially were gorgeous.
Disliked: The whole building (Riverside, not the main hotel) feels a bit neglected, the balcony and balcony furniture especially so. A few really simple things would have made it a nicer experience- a coat of paint or new (comfier!) Furniture out on the balcony, and lights or even just a citronella candle too. People book these rooms for the balcony over the Tay, so making it as comfortable as possible to enjoy the balcony would be a huge improvement.

Liked: The staff were brilliant, the food and drinks were lovely. The grounds were beautiful!
Disliked: Sadly, the shower took 20 mins to heat up, and the single bed i had in the room had lost many springs, so half the mattress slumped, and I didn't have a great sleep on this occasion!

A lovely experience

Liked: Beautiful hotel and location in the countryside, by the river. Nice walking paths on the property and nearby. Excellent breakfast! Very friendly and helpful staff. This was the perfect stop as we travelled from Edinburgh to Inverness.
Disliked: The hotel is tired and could use a refurbishment (though it is charming).
