The Spotlight on Aurora Hotel & Italian Restaurant

Coastal Comfort with a Side of Italian Flavor

Modern yet cozy, the Aurora Hotel & Italian Restaurant offers laid-back charm in the heart of Nairn. Just an 11-minute walk from the scenic Nairn Central Beach and close to major routes into Inverness, this 2-star hotel is a relaxed base for concert-goers exploring the Highlands. The on-site Italian restaurant adds a warm, homely vibe that makes it easy to unwind after a night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is a great pick for music lovers who want a peaceful place to recharge after the show. While not directly in the center of a nightlife hub, it’s in a quiet coastal town with easy access to Inverness (just 16 miles away)—ideal for fans attending gigs in the city but wanting to escape the crowds. The free WiFi and friendly, flexible vibe make it easy to coordinate transport or stream post-show highlights. Bonus: it’s under 7 miles to Inverness Airport for late-night arrivals or early exits.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends will love the casual atmosphere and on-site dining.
Solo travelers can count on a safe, quiet stay with local charm.
Couples will enjoy the coastal setting and romantic Italian meals.
Fans needing a recovery space will appreciate the peaceful surroundings.
Budget-conscious music fans will find great value here, especially with breakfast included.

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Italian restaurant is a standout, offering hearty meals perfect for pre- or post-show dining. While there’s no mention of 24/7 room service, the restaurant and bar provide convenient options without needing to venture far. A Full English/Irish breakfast is served daily—ideal for those recovering from a late night.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, the in-house bar provides a relaxed spot to enjoy a drink. For those chasing late-night vibes, head into nearby Inverness for pubs and music venues, then retreat back to the quiet comfort of Nairn.

What People Say

Guests love the warm hospitality and clean, comfortable rooms. The location earns praise for being close to both the beach and transport links. Many mention the delicious food at the Italian restaurant and the peaceful environment—a welcome break after a busy night.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests noted that the décor is a bit dated, and the early check-out time (10:30 AM) might be a squeeze after a late night. There’s also no elevator, so pack light if you’re on an upper floor.

The Bottom Line

A laid-back hotel with great food and a peaceful location—perfect for concert-goers who want to enjoy the music, then relax in comfort.

Great value and meals in...

Liked: The room at the Aurora was perfectly fine and in line with what I expected for the price. It's not a high end hotel, but it isn't priced that way either. If you are looking for a clean room, at great value, with really friendly people greeting you, this is a good choice in Nairn. Plus, the restaurant is very good - I ate there two nights and really enjoyed the Italian meal each time.
Disliked: Parking was a bit of a challenge as the car park for the hotel is small and somewhat awkward to get into. I ended up parking on the street next to the hotel and that was fine.

Exceptional

Liked: Room was great as was the breakfast.
Disliked: The decor of everything outside the room was very poor but I am assuming they are just getting around to decorating that at present as the room decor itself was excellent
