M1 Overnight stop

Liked: Nice buffet breakfast, but not great coffee and tea. Hot water from a flask dispenser = not so hot tea. Prefer a pot. Coffee wasn't very nice. I expected better considering it is supposed to be 4 star. We ate in the bar so we could have our big dog with us, which was fine. There is the option of the restaurant, but no dogs. Reception staff, bar staff, restaurant staff are very warm and welcoming. Dog allocated rooms are a 3-day camel hike away, up stair, along corridors, downstairs or across the car park round the back and through a dishevelled fire door. Small bed, bowl and dog treats waiting for the paying 4 legged guest. Nice touch for a small dog, my GSD was a bit big for the bed! Hahaha! Super meadow to walk the dog round, which was very welcome after a long drive. Beware it is rabbit city! Bathrooms are small, but clean. Shower in the bath. Only 1 bath towel in our room. Tea and coffee making facilities in room, toiletries, iron and hairdryer and TV. Good wifi. The hotel isn't quite the lovely white building it shows on the photo. It has a large motel style complex at the back. Things look a bit tatty from the outside, and a touch dated/tired on the inside. The grounds look unloved, which is a shame. Good large carpark. Im not seeing what makes it 4 star, but a good 3 star, so I think a touch pricey at 125 per night and 25 for the dog. (which is the most I have ever been charged for a dogs stay anywhere) I would stop overnight again on my way back from abroad as its great for the dog, and staff make it so welcoming. Hats off to them.
Disliked: Not so hot tea at breakfast and awful coffee.

Comfortable and convenient

Liked: Friendly staff, good value and good food. Despite proximity to motorway, surprisingly quiet.
Disliked: Shower drainage was very slow, risking flooding. However, when brought to attention of room cleaner this was sorted out immediately

still a lovely quiet hotel...

Liked: Room still very comfortable but showing it's age. Room number 189.
Disliked: Cutting down on available soaps etc. in the bathroom, bare essentials onlyHotel needs some cosmetic attention away from the main reception, entrance and bars. Leaky radiators, peeling paintwork etc.

Awful night sleep

Liked: The scenery around the hotel was nice.
Disliked: Rooms were dirty and tacky, there was music blasting until gone midnight and paying £150 a night when I couldn’t even sleep is crazy, really disappointing
