A spacious and peaceful hotel...

Liked: I liked the spacious rooms and the excellent shower. The hotel has loads of rooms and offers a peaceful atmosphere. While it’s about a 40-minute trip to town. It offers a relaxing retreat away from the busy city.
Disliked: There wasn’t anything major I disliked.

Disliked: Late night party with very loud music, didn’t stop at 23:00! Our room window opened straight onto the music venue and courtyard! No air on and it was very hot!

Downgraded For Free!

Liked: Breakfast staff were lovely. The executive double room was comfortable especially with a dog; the patio doors opening to the back garden was ideal. The decor was aesthetically pleasing. Garden was well maintained with a few decorative pieces.
Disliked: The receptionist upon arrival was exceptionally rude & dismissive, taking it upon himself to downgrade our stay for free & without our knowledge. Upon questioning this, he denied to acknowledge what we were saying over the phone but continued barking at us for the dog stay payment. My partner went down to the hotel reception to deal with this & while asking repeatedly for a manager, he was denied. We were eventually granted our originally reserved room.We then later encountered the same gentleman serving on the bar later that night, he was also very dismissive & seemingly angry towards us. He was very difficult & cold towards me (F) whereas my partner (M) got a slightly different vibe although still very negative & aggressive. Not what you want to contend with after booking a few nights away in a hotel, especially after working hard & driving from Glasgow for a visit and to explore the local area.

Excellent Meals, pleasant surroundings

Liked: Situated to the back of the building. Surrounded by fields.Meals were amazing - service was also fast, friendly and professional Facilities in the room were good - well set upAble to have the window open - very hot evening / night - appreciatedThis hotel has the potential if a little refurbished to look amazingStaff were gread
Disliked: Bed / pillows could be more comfyThe fan in the shower room 997 did not workThe remote for the TV in Room 999 was faulty - could not remove the subtitles. There were no fans in the room - although the window opens, it was very hot and as there is no air-conditioning, a large fan would be appreciated. (I slept poorly due to the heat), My son was fine. The hallway upstairs was very hot. The inside of the hotel is pleasant - the outside fabric does look delapidated - would benefit from refurbishmentTraffic noise is high (not in your power to change) but if you had air-conditioning - the windows could be closed in summer which would reduce this considerably.
