Room not as described

Disliked: Upon arrival, I was given a room that is located in the basement (or underground level), which was not mentioned anywhere in the room description at the time of booking. Furthermore, the window is completely blocked by a wall, providing no natural light or proper ventilation.We made the payment through Booking and arrived here at night, feeling very tired. After completing all the payments, we entered the room and saw that it is like a basement — there is no window, and even the Wi-Fi does not work properly. There is a street noice coming from "window" and we didn't feel secure.There was no information about this on either the hotel page or Booking.com. If it had been mentioned, I would never have booked this room. This is a significant misrepresentation of the room, and it caused a lot of discomfort. When I approached the hotel reception to request a room change or my money back, guy at reception refused to offer any alternative or assistance, despite my polite request. The only thing he said "I can't". So out first night was a disaster but it was midnight and we are tired, that's we have no choice.

Clean and fine, triple room...

Liked: Rooms were very clean, bathroom was good and great linen and towels. Daily cleaning service was nice. Breakfast staff were very helpful and friendly, even getting me pancakes when they weren't actually on offer. Breakfast buffet was fresh and good food. Some variety over the days would be nice. e.g. why not have poached eggs sometimes, or mushrooms or other vegetables.
Disliked: The room was super small, and our 3 beds were barely 'apart'. Lift was very slow. There was a second lift but it was more of a 'goods lift' and was very small. Stair area and entry on each floor felt very 'institutional' or 'hospital' rather than hotel. Reception area was very small for the hotel size and was often congested and full of people. The breakfast room was 'roped' off during the day and not open for guests to sit there. Made it feel quite unwelcoming. Facade of hotel looked run down/dirty.

Liked: We got upgraded to a room with a view of the castle and it was a lovely view. The weather was a bit unpredictable so we didn’t get to use the balcony very much but the view was lovely. The bed was comfortable, there was plenty of room for our bags and the bathroom was spacious. The air conditioning was easy to use and there’s a small fridge.
Disliked: It was advertised that there was laundry available however it was only a laundry service and very overpriced.

Liked: The location stands out as a key factor in selecting this hotel, making it an important consideration for our stay.
Disliked: While Astoria was close to the city center, we encountered some challenges during our stay. Our experience got off on the wrong foot when we were assigned a room that hadn't been cleaned yet. This incident highlighted an opportunity for improvement in customer service. We believe that a hotel should prioritise hospitality, and we hope that Astoria can enhance this aspect for future guests.
