We had a lovely stay,...
Liked: Staff were very professional and friendly.
Although the hotel was very dated, it was exceptionally clean and had a cosy, homely feeling to it.
Location was perfect! right opposite the River Cam
Disliked: The fact that we couldnt stay in the main Hotel, we were placed in the Coach house at the back of the establishment. The rooms, however, were still clean and comfortable, but I think this should be mentioned on the final booking, as it comes across misleading. The water coming from the taps was also dangerously hot, maintenance needs to lower the temp. Breakfast was also not that great, a very basic continental, although it stated a very good breakfast on the booking, we expected a cooked breakfast.

Liked: Location perfect plus the car parking. As it was around New Year a lot was not open
Disliked: A problem with lack of staff at dinner and they did not return after we had ordered drinks

Overnight break to see the...
Liked: The situation of the hotel is ideal for a visit to Cambridge. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was good. Beds were spotless. The biscuits in the room were excellent.
Disliked: The hotel is in need of a little TLC with some areas needing updating or at least painting and redecorating. The windows in our room had a lot of black dirt/mould and the bathroom corners and shower seals needed some attention. We could have done with a bit more milk in our rooms. The staff in some areas were run off their feet such as the breakfast room and we did have to hang around a lot to pay our bar bill. I also thought that overnight parking (£15) should have been free. We left our car in the car park the following day after check out for less than four hours which cost us another £12.50. So I have flown to Italy for less than our car parking total £27.50!!! It was also a bit of a pity that my 88 year old mother could not have been organised a room closer to ours when we checked in despite asking and despite the hotel being far from full - she was a little upset by that. Our room almost in the attic, overlooked a corner of the car park and a rather grubby fire escape. With all these taken into consideration it was a bit overpriced.
