Good

Liked: I particularly enjoyed the good quality ham and cheeses of the ‘Continental’ breakfast. The location is also wonderful, overlooking the Cam, next to Jesus Green and 10 minutes from the city centre
Disliked: Rather tired plumbing.

Hotel has great potential but...

Liked: Staff very pleasant - reception coping well under pressure with customers and telephone.Continental breakfast was good.
Disliked: Small room adjacent to outside noisy compressors that fortunately stopped in the evening - restarted 06.45.Evening meal very average with overpriced wine.Many steps potentially causing mobility issues.Found hotel difficult to find with overgrown trees masking signage, car parking obscure.

Pleasant

Confortable overall but clearly struggling

Liked: Breakfast was fine, although the tea from the flask was stewed and unpleasant. Why not hot water and a selection of tea bags.
Disliked: A bit more organisation of the tables, we ended up sitting at a large table that had other peoples dirty lates etc, because it hadn't been cleared and there was nowhere else to sit.

Need staff training in customer...

Liked: Location
Disliked: 4 steep flights of steps with case.Freezing cold bedroom with draught from window. Staff that didn't care .

Liked: Good location and nice breakfast - but spoiled by other issues
Disliked: We also met the rude and aggressive South Asian-origin receptionist that other reviewers have complained about. Our room was small, had a constant buzz from a broken device, plus had a drooping mattress - but she insisted that we went in our dressing gowns to the reception to change our room

Liked: It was a convenient location.
Disliked: The shower knob fell off when I turned the shower on, and I had to reach through the cold water spray to pick it up and adjust the shower.

Liked: Beautiful building and the bedrooms are all called after John sworths paintings
