1 night in Williamsburg
Liked: Great location, lovely welcoming staff on the desk particularly MayaNice views of the city from our room - request a High floor when booking
Disliked: Initially we were put in a room on a floor where they were doing construction/renovationsThere was a builder sawing and drilling on the balcony next door We asked to be moved and they graciously did so, just not sure why anyone would be allocated a room next to all that noise & building work going on Pool/rooftop wasn’t open even though it was beautiful weather

The Arlo was very convenient...
Liked: The friendly staff and great location. The rooms were clean and I enjoyed the restaurant and bar area.
Disliked: It’s very expensive. As an Australian visiting New York (my daughter lives in a tiny apartment close to the Arlo so I couldn’t stay with her), staying in hotels is almost prohibitive. Perhaps a deal for a long stay could be offered?

Disappointed in quality and cleanliness...
Liked: Have stayed there for years. Hotel has gone way down hill.
Disliked: Cleanliness and cost of food and drinks compared to other hotels in the area.

Williamsburg stay
Liked: Location, boutique hotel ambiance, cleanliness were all good
Disliked: A scary experience where an intruder tried to enter our room at midnight. Luckily, we had latched the door. The response of the staff on the next day was lackluster and uncaring. No explanation as to how someone could access our door lock.

A massive disappointment
Liked: Location is good for exploring Williamsburg
Disliked: It was an extremely disappointing stay on our honeymoon. We had to change rooms after the first night because the towels and bedding were ripped and had holes in them and were not clean. Plus our initial room was located above refurbishment work (heavy drilling and banging) that started early morning, and we hadn’t been warned in advance. We ate in the hotel restaurant and drank at the bar but were only told by text on the day we left that we should have had a 10% discount as hotel guests. It was clear from conversations with the servers that we were staying at the hotel, yet no one mentioned the discount. Overall, the feeling that we were left with was one of having been ripped off and a hotel that charged five star prices but offered a 3 star service. We won’t be recommending the hotel or returning when we are next in New York.
