The Spotlight on Argyll Hotel

Classic Comfort Steps from Glasgow's Music Scene

Traditional, welcoming, and full of character, the Argyll Hotel offers a cozy stay in the heart of Glasgow’s West End. Located on the vibrant Sauchiehall Street, it sits directly across from Kelvingrove Park and is just a quick walk from top music venues like the SECC and the OVO Hydro. Its family-run atmosphere, individually styled rooms, and great value make it a favorite for visitors who want classic Scottish hospitality with a convenient city base.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re less than 15 minutes on foot from major venues—ideal when you're heading to a gig or coming back late. The hotel’s quieter West End location offers a peaceful place to crash after the encore. Free Wi-Fi and flexible check-in from 3:00 PM means you can arrive and refresh before the show. And with good local transport links including the Exhibition Centre Rail Station nearby, getting around the city is easy even late at night.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for an affordable base near the action
Solo travelers checking off a bucket-list concert
Couples turning a gig into a weekend getaway
Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery spot
Budget-conscious music lovers who still want style

Food and Drink Options

The hotel has a restaurant serving good-value meals, perfect for fueling up before a night out. Late-night dining is limited, but with many eateries just a short stroll away on Sauchiehall Street, you'll have plenty of post-concert options. Breakfast is available to help ease your morning after, though it may be best to check the hours if you're planning a late lie-in.

Nightlife Options

While the Argyll itself doesn’t offer live music or a bar scene, it’s surrounded by bustling West End nightlife. You’ll find bars, pubs, and lounges within walking distance, many of which showcase local craft drinks and occasional live performances. It’s easy to carry on the night (or wind down) just steps from your room.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly staff, traditional charm, and unbeatable location close to both the city centre and major attractions. Many mention the clean and comfortable rooms, and the value for money is a huge plus. Travelers also appreciate the elevator access and the small but handy free limited parking.

Areas for Improvement

Some rooms are on the smaller side, and the decor, while charmingly traditional, may feel a bit dated to those looking for modern style. On-street parking can be tricky at peak times if the small hotel lot is full. And while there’s no on-site bar, the local area more than makes up for it.

The Bottom Line

The Argyll Hotel is a great-value base for concert-goers wanting a cozy, character-filled stay just minutes from Glasgow’s top venues.

Had a lovely stay here. A beautiful, quaint hotel with really friendly cleaning ladies. Reception was amazing, especially Sherry - thank you for helping me so much.

Liked: This hotel is beautiful. The nicest, kindest staff I've ever come across - they went above and beyond to help me with anything I needed. Such kind, lovely people.
Disliked: Nothing was bad.

Lynn, Carlisle, visiting Bellahouston Park Glasgow

Only stayed one night so unfortunately didn't sample the food. The hotel was immaculate, the room and ensuite were beautiful. Hotel in a very quiet part of the city. The young man on reception was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend! Will definitely return.

Liked: Spotlessley clean, very friendly staff.
Disliked: Can't think of anything!

Ok hotel but expensive

Liked: Hotel room was decent in size, bathroom was clean, tea/ coffee machine available.
Disliked: The breakfast is 20 pounds if not booked in advance which was expensive imo given the options (e.g., no cheese, no cold cuts; sliced tomatoes the only fresh veggies; bananas the only fresh fruits). Old/ chunky-looking furniture and decor. Not a fan of carpets and heavy curtains because of dust allergies.

Pre my daughters wedding Me...

Liked: I booked single room Breakfast was excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly Bathroom could do with a radiator. Location good. But for Glasgow one way road system Buses to city centre great Getting back to Hotel not so great. Arriving in Buchanan street bus station from Edinburgh .went to platform 45 for number 77 to Hotel. Not direct journey round several streets Thought I was on wrong bus .but did eventually end up at Hotel. Getting to city centre from Hotel cross the road and walk up the road to get 77 or 3 to. Centre. You can also get Glasgow Tour bus ( red route) here £ 20 ticket and you can hop on and off where ever you want and charge to Yellow route to see more Great value
Disliked: No comfortable smoking shelter.Breakfast room being in basement I found chilly Signage in lift says breakfast in Sutherland restaurant Then in the breakfast room The ambiance of the hotel is trashed by very modern decor and Soul food Signage .?( vegetarian restaurant) operating later in day from this area Though it wasn't open any evening I was there.( Thursday &Friday) A Hotel bar would be good. But you can walk 2 minutes along the road to The great Western Hotel that has a bar and Restaurant
