Ok but we would not...

Liked: The management was very responsive and sorted out our issue with the first room we were given by moving us to another room. They sorted that out in a very appropriate way.
Disliked: We were given a room with a connecting door which was not fully insulated. The neighbours were not that noisy but woke us up so we asked to be moved, which the manager got onto straight away. There were hairs in both bathrooms left after cleaning and that should not be an issue in the bathroom in particular.

Liked: We got married there it is a beautiful hotel the room was big and comfy and clean, dinner and breakfasy was lovely grounds are as beautiful as ever.
Disliked: Quite far away to get outside, evening meal was lovely with an added gesture to say happy anniversary only issue is from start to finish we were served by 6 different people so no chance of rapport etc also selve serve machines for tea and coffee for breakfast would be a great shout

Exceptional

Liked: Clean, comfortable. The Spa was excellent. And the surrounding area is nice. unfortunately it was raining, but could be wonderful in the summer to sit at the terrace looking at the lovely garden. The food at dinner was super.
Disliked: it was a double room, but only one armchair. One of us had to sit on the bed. if it is a double room, should be 2 armchair. also some mold around the shower screen should be cleaned. The bar area could be bigger. We were standing around to wait for a table to free up, while the big restaurant was not open.

Ok but not value for...

Liked: Quiet area
Disliked: Lack of choice food wise, ok breakfast but reduced options

Liked: Ground floor room, lovely food.
Disliked: A bigger variety on the evening menu would be good

Disappointing, is not 4-star as...

Liked: The grounds and setting are excellent.
Disliked: Service was below par. This hotel claims to be 4-star but falls a long way short of standards for that. Rooms are comfortable, but small and dark, with furnishings that are beginning to look old. Buffet breakfast was basic with in-attentive staff. Cutlery / crockery / table setting are cafe standards.
