Not the greatest at a...

Liked: Not much, A very old and tired building / hotel….. in years gone by I believe it would have been a lovely and amazing hotel but I’m afraid that it’s very tired, old and almost like an old spooky mansion in a hammer house of horrors movie or a murder mystery weekend away.
Disliked: Bed terrible, carpet hideous and dirty. No curtains, skylight in bathroom very very dirty, unpainted and left to rot / ruin. Unfortunately the fact that the hotel is closing for good in September means that no one looks as if they care anymore. In my humble opinion. Need another toaster at breakfast time and better service from staff. Still waiting on our orange juice to arrive. Toast was like hot bread when you actually got some. No beans on breakfast and a very wobbly table. Not great at all

Liked: Beautiful location and grandeau.
Disliked: Our bathroom fan wouldn't turn off for over an hour and prevented our sleeping until well after midnight.

Good but there is room...

Liked: The idea of spending a few days in an old castle. The castle gardens and the small lake were very beautiful and the staff was polite.
Disliked: Although you can feel the old glory of this place, it requires a serious renovation to be able to sustain its operation. The condition of doors/ windows/ electrical/ plumping installations was not good, at least in the rooms that we stayed. The location is a bit isolated and you need at least a '20 drive from the main road network to reach it (without anything else on the way to the hotel)

A sense of Scottish luxury....

Liked: A very unique experience in a Scottish manorHouse. Felt very special with a a sense of luxury about it. I felt like a lord!
Disliked: A little damp but it’s Scotland. Would also be good to see a bar menu so you know what to expect cost wise. Some of the house needs a little money invested.

Staying at the Ardanaiseig was...

Liked: The location on Loch Awe was spectacular once you arrive after driving down a very long very narrow one lane road.
Disliked: The hotel has seen better days and many things needed updating. Which won’t be happening due to the owner’s decision to close in September.

Good

Liked: Location, staff were polite, how quiet it was
Disliked: It rates as a 4 star hotel, but unfortunately it's more a 2 - 3 star hotel, due to overgrown grounds, wet marks on the carpet, black mould in shower unit, dust & paint work needing attention in bathroom & around the hotel. Wasn't too happy that there's no staff available in the hotel after a certain time, that you need to call 0 to get someone. The hotel has soo much potential, but the current owner (as I found out) has done nothing for 30yrs since buying it
