Set in Eden Valley the 19th century Appleby Manor Country House Hotel features an AA rosette winning restaurant which serves fresh local produce. Views across the hotel's beautiful landscaped garden can be enjoyed with a drink on the terrace. Each room has a seating area some of which surround traditional bay windows overlooking the gardens and Appleby Castle. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Bistro 1871 offers guests a relaxed and informal dining style and a real log fire is the center piece of the traditionally furnished lounge in which guests can enjoy a drink. A full English breakfast is served in the Oak Room Restaurant which features a conservatory with views across the Lake District fells. Scenic hill walking and fishing are possible in the immediate area. Appleby Rail Station is just 10 minutes' walk away while the castle and Appleby Golf Club are a 5-minute drive. Penrith town center is less than a 20-minute drive from Appleby Manor.

Liked: Very overpriced for what we got. Room was OK. Hotel is dated. No use of spa without extra payment and it's not cheap. Breakfast is OK. They're clearly relying in location as the rest isn't great
Disliked: Outdated. Very very overpriced. Lack of use of facilities. Basic rooms. Some staff have real attitude. Very pretentious. We will not book again

Disappointing

Liked: Spar is good but sometimes over crowed nowhere to sit or use the facilities
Disliked: Food is very expensive in the bistro ordered my food took over 1hr to get it and was tasteless very unsatisfied with portion size and quality
