Set in Eden Valley the 19th century Appleby Manor Country House Hotel features an AA rosette winning restaurant which serves fresh local produce. Views across the hotel's beautiful landscaped garden can be enjoyed with a drink on the terrace. Each room has a seating area some of which surround traditional bay windows overlooking the gardens and Appleby Castle. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Bistro 1871 offers guests a relaxed and informal dining style and a real log fire is the center piece of the traditionally furnished lounge in which guests can enjoy a drink. A full English breakfast is served in the Oak Room Restaurant which features a conservatory with views across the Lake District fells. Scenic hill walking and fishing are possible in the immediate area. Appleby Rail Station is just 10 minutes' walk away while the castle and Appleby Golf Club are a 5-minute drive. Disappointing

Liked: Spar is good but sometimes over crowed nowhere to sit or use the facilities
Disliked: Food is very expensive in the bistro ordered my food took over 1hr to get it and was tasteless very unsatisfied with portion size and quality

Excellent stay with a great...

Liked: Very good location for an annual golf trip but within easy reach of the lakes. We had lovely rooms overlooking the garden.

A lovely hotel with great...

Liked: The staff were superb for both days and nights and could not do enough. There is a 5% surcharge added for tips which i felt was well earned. The food was excellent for both breakfast and the 2 evening meals we took. The hotel had a lot of character. The conservatory had amazing views over the moors and the dining room had a light modern feel to it
Disliked: The room had a lot of period fittjngs and had lots of character. However, it was hot due to not being able to reach the windows. This character also showed in the age of the bathroom, within which the shower curtain was a little mouldy. The bath plug area was also showing signs of age with green limescale. The water pressure was excellent but the shower could not be adjusted due to a crack. Bar prices were a little steep.
