A Thousand Years of Character

Liked: It's an authentic castle, with most of the buildings dating back hundreds of years. You can forgive a lot about so-called infrastructure problems when you have the kind of character and interest as there is here. The fact the old doors had to be given a good firm slam, doesn't make it inferior to squeaky clean well-oiled smooth key action doors. It's just authentic. Showers and toilets worked, bed comfortable, breakfast good, environment excellent.
Disliked: I'm not going to complain about an old castle being old. It's the whole point!

A really great stay in...

Liked: The experience of staying in a medieval castle. The personalities in running such an ancient castle. The location is stunning. Dinner was a great experience, we sat with other guests and had a great time, good food, good company.
Disliked: We couldn’t stay longer as we had travel plans.

An authentic medieval castle.certainlynor full...

Liked: If you don’t mind the odd cobweb, creaky / uneven floor This place is as authentic as they come. My husband and I stayed in the castle for 1 nights. This place is full of history Craig the barman /chief/ waiter was amazing and full of information, I loved the uneven floors and old features, but it is all part of the charm. At the end of the day you’re staying in medieval castle. Not the savoy. We wished we had time to visit the Norman tower , we will definitely return when we have more time.
Disliked: Wished we could have seen more of the house. But Craig showed me round

Pleasant

Liked: Unique setting with loads of history. Good breakfast
Disliked: Not very clean. Staff often unavailable and not very helpful. Wine very over priced. Generally felt run down and uncared for rather than a unique experience.
