Comfortable beds; large, well equipped room and bathroom; very quiet; all spotlessly clean; location perfect for (5 minutes walk away); great view of castle; loads of great pubs and restaurants nearby. Very near to Station and Princes Street. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go to Apex again.

Liked: On checking out, they offered to look after our luggage if we wished until we caught our train home.
Disliked: Scaffolding over entrance and workmen busy on our floor but not disturbed in any way despite this.

Very centrally located hotel.

Liked: It's very well located on Grassmarket - however this means that it is a bit noisy on the street side. The room was clean and well appointed. The amenities were good - coffee, etc. The bathroom was in good condition and the shower was very good.
Disliked: There is Apex City of Edinburgh and Apex Grassmarket. They are next to each other. It wasn't totally clear to me which one I was booking. Apex Grassmarket is clearly the nicer property. Don't get fooled like I did...It's right on the street on Grassmarket - so although very convenient for tourism, not great for noise. We asked for a quiet room and were given one right by the elevators on the street side on the 1st floor...so that didn't work well. It's used for a lot of tour groups so be prepared to be behind them or to have them crowding the common spaces.

Liked: Excellent welcome, staff helpful, appreciated provision of fresh milk and availability of water cooler. Room very clean and well furnished
Disliked: I felt claustrophobic in the room as the small window gave almost no light. It was basically the view from a basement of nothing but a large mound of grass. I found it oppressive. As a result, although other aspects of my stay were good, overall I was disappointed. I do not think that room is suitable as a bedroom, especially at the price I was charged.
