Good

Good value for money considering...
Liked: - The location was exceptional. Just over a 5 minute walk to Waverley Station and just off the beaten track of the Royal Mile.- The staff were great. Woman at reception (didn’t catch her name) was really helpful and accommodating and went the extra mile to help us with bus routes.- The bar. Good vibe, really busy. Doesn’t overly affect noise coming into rooms so no issue there either. We had a wee one with us so didn’t get full enjoyment but young people, big groups and couples travelling without kids would enjoy.- Clean room
Disliked: - The room was clean but the bed was quite uncomfy and springy.- The cooked breakfast was cold but tasted fine.

Great location but noisy and...
Liked: This is a great central location just off the Royal Mile. The staff were also kind and helpful.
Disliked: I felt this was very overpriced for a private room in a hostel. They were clearly in the middle of a refurb with plastic all over the carpet and tape on radiators. It was also very noisy and even with earplugs found it hard to sleep.

Wouldn't stay again or recommend
Liked: Beds were comfortable, though only two out of our required three booked were made up with a sheet and pillow case etc.
Disliked: A few staff members were very very rude and food quality and portion sizes were not consistent.

Would not recommend
Liked: Budget friendly and cheap breakfast buffet for only £7.99. Friendly reception staff. Shower temperature and pressure was fine with shower gel provided. Location was central.
Disliked: I was on Lv 1 and appeared to have no ventilation/air conditioning (I couldn’t find any vents on the ceiling only heater) and was very stuffy. Bedroom floor and shelves had rubbish and empty alcohol bottles (no bin in the room, only toilet had a tiny bin to share between 6 beds). My allocated bunk had someone else’s dirty socks and shirt. Fresh bed linen provided at time of checkin and need to make the bed yourself. One side of bed curtain was missing. There’s a pub downstairs and music was playing after 12.

Our group booked 6 beds...
Liked: Nothing other than the location
Disliked: Didn’t like anything. Horrendous experience and ruined our weekend. It’s a great place to stay if you are wanting the perfect prison experience!
