Hotel Description
In the pretty village of Menai Bridge the 200 year-old Anglesey Arms is rich in original charm and traditional character with tasty home-cooked food and real ales. The Anglesey Arms is the first building you see as you enter the island of Anglesey over Thomas Telford's famous Menai Suspension Bridge over the Menai Strait. The friendly pub serves traditional real ales and good honest pub food in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The building is steeped in history and the bell once used to call last orders was the original ship's bell rescued from the HMS Conwy which ran aground in the Menai Straits in April 1953. The rooms feature modern comforts and facilities including private bathrooms flat-screen TVs and tea/coffee. Free Wi-Fi is available in the bar. A full English breakfast is served each morning and free private parking is available on site. Highway A55 and the city of Bangor are just minutes away.

A jewel at the end...

Liked: The hotel is an older property and is well maintained. It is on a road, right by the Menai Bridge, which makes it super easy to find.We stayed here on the friday as we were doing the zip wire on the saturday. Upon arrival after a horrific journey up from Devon, we were greeted by friendly staff. The host/ manager(?) Was informative and efficient so we could get to our room ASAP. Once refreshed we came down to the bar, well stocked and clean. (Bonus points for Lees own lagers being delicious, by the way!) And a young lady, long auburn hair served us beuatifully three times before we made our way to the restaurant. The barrel ran out on our third drink and the young man brought our drink to us once all sorted, simple and a nice touch. In the restaurant we were served by David, who was attentive, well mannered and clearly enjoys his job and the people he serves, taking great pride in his work. The food. Oh my, the food. Deliciousness. Pure deliciousness. We had pie and chips with the side of veg, the pork belly and noodles and a side of the duck bon bons. It was all amazing, pure 10/10, clean plates all round. Well presented and we ate every morsel. Big thank you to the kitchen staff for that meal, it has set the bar for an excellent meal. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked to order, we had the full breakfast, again delicious, not a drop left, and the eggs benedict on hash browns instead of muffin, a menu item adapted at no stress and no surcharge and again, utterly delicious. The young lady who seated us and served us was very good too, very polite and very good at her job. Overall, its been a very worthwhile trip. The staff, without exception have been wonderful, the food has been glorious and if and when we come back this way again, we would without hesitation stay here again. Incredible value for money.
