Liked: Welcoming place, good food and breakfast. Like the fact that you get a discount on your food when you stay at the hotel. Very central to getting around on foot or tram, bus or taxi.

Would stay again but expensive...
Liked: We visited Edinburgh at the end of May. Staff were friendly and attentive. We received an anniversary card and some prosecco with our meal - lovely gesture. We stayed in the Shirley Manson room. Each room is named after a Scottish celebrity. Hotel is clean but a little worn around the edges. Excellent shower, rainfall style and very powerful. Restaurant has limited choice but food was to a very good standard, hotel residents get 20% discount off food. Bar setting was nice, a bit different. Quite expensive but it is a hotel. The honey roasted Carrots are a must!
Disliked: This is not so much things that we did not like, just niggles….Room gets very hot but there is a Dyson fan that helps. Fridge is packed full of drinks to purchase, no room to store your own stuff.Draw space - lack offLack of hooks, may not seem like a big deal but there is no where to hang anything! You end up with coats draped over the chair! The bed, be warned, the mattress topper is bigger than the bed, when you sit on the edge, you will fall off. That said, we slept well and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast! The cooked breakfast included in our room rate was not great but the porridge with honey and berry compote made up for it.

Perfect location, but a bad...
Liked: Staff at reception was very friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel is perfect, super central and therefore everything was very easy to reach (primarily by foot)
Disliked: The rooms were incredibly warm. We were provided with a Dyson fan, but the remote didn't work so you could either only turn it on at full speed or turn it off. It didn't really help cooling the room down though. Keeping the windows open over night wasn't really an option due to its central location (noise). 3 of the 4 sockets by the bed weren't working, the room was very small and felt dated (especially the shower which was a pain). I appreciate that the room was expensive due to the weekend we picked (with both the highland games and pride on), but £300+ for this room per night was definitely not worth the money.
