We loved our stay at...

Liked: The location couldn?t be beat! The history of the hotel is fascinating and it has all the quaintness you want from The French Quarter. The staff really make an effort to treat you like family. They went above and beyond for us!The beds were very comfortable.
Disliked: This is a very old hotel and, as such, there were a few things that could use a bit of maintenance attention, but nothing that got in the way of a lovely stay. There was a good deal of dust up high in the room (light fixtures, etc.) It?s such an elegant room that this was even more noticeable. One slight disappointment was that the beautiful fountain in the center of the courtyard (one of the selling points, as far as I?m concerned) was apparently in disrepair during our stay, so we never got the fountain noise and ambience we were looking forward to.

Exceptional

Liked: The hotel is perfectly preserved and the staff are amazing. High end toiletries are standard. The courtyard is the most serene haven for morning coffee or an evening nightcap before bed.
Disliked: That I couldn't stay forever.

Very good

Liked: The location. One block from Bourbon St, two blocks from Jackson Square (and Cafe Du Monde). The galleries, restaurants, and shops along Royal are within walking distance and easily accessible. The staff we met were very friendly and helpful. My wife has mobility issues and the staff went out of their way making sure she could use her scooter to get in and out. The hotels reputation of being haunted is confirmed by my wife after being woken at 3 am by someone stroking her hair. Appropriate, since we were there on Halloween.
Disliked: Not ADA compliant. The hotel itself needs some work. Scarred walls with (minor) chipped paint in the room, loose/missing caulk on the windows/doors. Low water pressure in the shower. Large dumpsters and trash cans within yards of the entrance. The biggest issue for us was the volume of noise in the courtyard at night. Guests returning from Bourbon St continuing to party til 1 or 2 am made it difficult to sleep.

Dirty and disappointing

Liked: Liked the courtyard but our room was located on the 1st floor by the lobby so it did not have a good view and was extra noisy hearing guests complain to the front desk about the dirtiness of the rooms.
Disliked: My room was dirty. Rug obviously had not been vacuumed in a while. Feet turned black after walking across the floor. Website description stated that a breakfast is included, there is no breakfast.
