Good
Liked: The location was fantastic. While the decor was outdated, it had some charm to it. The included breakfast was nice.
Disliked: Breakfast does not start until 7am. When you've got an early flight out, that is not very convenient. Since the breakfast spread was already out at 6:15am I decided to help myself to yogurt and some toast. The staff member working seemed to have a problem with that.

Liked: The location The staffBreakfast
Disliked: Steep stairs Since we are old it was very difficult for us to climb four stories with our baggage. We requested for the room in lower floor but that could not be arranged

Hotel Wiechmann is a charming...
Liked: The breakfast was great and having all day access to warm beverages was really nice. The room was beautiful with a picture perfect view of the Prinsengracht canal. It was by far the largest bathroom we had at any hotel in Europe, and the only one that provided conditioner. The location was great within walking distance of the Van Gogh Museum (make your reservations early they sell out), the Rijksmuseum and the Anne Frank Haus. There were many restaurants and a small grocery store in the neighborhood as well.
Disliked: Really the only downside to the property was people walking in the street were quite loud until very late at night (2-3 am). The noise from the street was really not something the hotel can control, but if you are a light sleeper perhaps request a room not facing the canal, you lose those fabulous views though! Yes, the stairs are steep, but we had that issue at every property we stayed at in Europe.

Lovely hotel on the canal
Liked: The location was fantastic, close to restaurants, museums, walkable to many places of interest. One of the best parts of our stay was the front desk staff. They couldn't have been any nicer. We especially enjoyed chatting with Wendeline who taught us so much about Amsterdam. We enjoyed our interaction with all of them. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious.
Disliked: Obviously, we knew that Amsterdam is an old city and the hotels didn't have the same amenities as the more modern hotels like elevators or air-conditioning. It happened that there was an unusual heat wave, so we were hot in the room, but nothing took away from our stay at this delightful hotel.

Good
Liked: Personnel is very friendly and welcoming, storing luggage before and after Check-in was no problem at all! The location is superb; a nice add-on is that Albert Heijn (supermarket) is right around the corner. The breakfast room is very welcoming (facing the gracht/canal) and the breakfast buffet had a good selection, especially considering it is included in the price
Disliked: The hotel seems to have two different categories of rooms – the nicer, "premium" rooms with fancier furniture facing the gracht/canal, and smaller, simpler rooms facing, well, a tiny backyard immediately facing other hotel rooms. Mine was of the latter category and very tiny, also I was a little disappointed because the room and furnishings were not only very simple, but also seemed quite worn-out. Still everything was clean and functional.
