Good value; but some important...

Liked: Pleasant customer service right from the moment of booking. They were happy to assist in solving any issues.
Disliked: There are no lifts; the elderly in our group were upset about this as they discovered this only at check-in. (I'm not sure if this is posted clearly in ads.) The rooms need updating. Our shower mixed tap dates from the 1980s, and the cold water simply would not turn off. The small electric heater did not work. Not hugely important in mild weather, but I would not like to have discovered this after checking in in colder weather. This is apparently a "known" issue at the hotel.

Liked: This was a great location if travelling on the watercress line and only a short walk into Alton town
Disliked: When we checked in nothing explained about hotel literally got handed key. Bed was very uncomfortable
