Superb
Liked: Everything is good apart from there is a club on the ground floor, it was very noisy until early morning on Friday night.

Exceptional
Liked: The location is incredible. Bonsecours Market is right outside the entrance. You are not just nearby. Once you step out, you are already there. The Clock Tower is less than a ten-minute walk, and La Grande Roue and the zipline area are only a few minutes away on foot. Given the location, the price is very reasonable, especially for people traveling alone. The staff were kind and helpful throughout my stay. Claire was especially wonderful. Another staff member helped me with check-in (sorry, I did not get her name); she was also lovely and welcoming. Reception is available all day and night. You enter with a code, and each room has its own security code. The neighborhood feels safe even after dark. There are pubs nearby and people walking around until late. There is a clean shared kitchen next to the reception. You can store food in the fridge and label it with the supplies they provide. Coffee is available too. You can borrow a hairdryer at the front desk, which is convenient. There is also a laundry room with a sign-up board to manage the queue. Just keep in mind that towels are not included, so you will need to bring your own or rent one.

Hostel nested in old Montreal
Liked: Aubergine Alt Hostel is situated at the center of old Montreal. This is an optimal accomodation for a solo traveler who wants to meet other travellers. The kitchen/lounge is very welcoming, and there is often communal cookies prepared by staff for the guests. The kitchen has most of the equipment you will need to prepare meals, and guests are respectful with space and timing in order to reduce kitchen congestion. The bed is comfortable and the associated locker provides a good sense of security for putting things away. Overall Alt hostel is a great place for open-minded travellers who want an affordable and central accomodation in Montreal.
Disliked: There is a bit to remember regarding door pins, and moving through seperate buildings. Could be improved using a card system

I will pay a bit...
Liked: Having a bed to sleep on
Disliked: Sharing a room with people; between the over social, being assigned a top bunk bed that was frankly not easy to get into or out of, having to listen to roommates videos because they forgot to pack earphones, the noise outside until 2am I think, there was no way I could get the early sleep I wanted.

Disliked: Proper non lumpy pillows are neededThere is no support from pillows providedThe air conditioning needs to be turned downRoom needs to be warmerOtherwise it's a great place with friendly staff and pleasant guests. Laundry facilities available. The kitchen area is brilliant, fully equipped except for a genie. The location is historical. You can't do better. And just 5 min walk to metro . Highly recommended
