How I use my service...

Liked: I liked everything except the staff
Disliked: I have a service animal. She is trained and she has been with me for 8 years. The staff had just had a training session on service animals and they did not want me at the hotel without my service animal because she was registered there. I live with my husband and one of my grandchildren who were with me on the trip. Every morning my husband or my granddaughter will take my service animal out to use the restroom because I have trouble walking and mornings are especially hard. They made me get up and take her out myself. They said my granddaughter or my husband could not take her out and they would not allow me in the hotel without her. I actually live in Fort Myers which is where the hotel was located and I had other family members at my apartment. I was staying in a hotel with my husband and granddaughter to make room at my apartment for other family members to come and visit. When I was with my husband I did not need to have my service animal with me. When I am accompanied by someone who can help me when I need it I do not need my service animal with me. They would not let me in the hotel without her. When I was in the hotel with my husband, my granddaughter and her husband, I wanted to just allow my dog to stay at my apartment with the rest of my family where she lives, but the staff there would not allow her to stay home. They told me that because she is a service animal she had to be with me at all times! No she does not! The staff there would not allow her to occasionally stay at home and then come with me when I needed her. The staff made my disability and the use of my service animal problematic. I was harrassed! It was the first time in eight years that I've had a problem at any hotel that I've stayed at. At one point one of the gentlemen at the registration desk actually argued with my husband over it claiming that he " just had a training.
