Alliance Lille - Couvent Des Minimes

A nice hotel

Liked: The room is clean but the lighting is poor. We had a fridge in the room and two bottles of water. There is a car park. The hotel is located in a quiet street, facing a canal. We only stayed for one night and we had to leave early therefore we did not have breakfast.
Disliked: This is about the building. There is no soundproofing, you can hear other guests having a shower at 6 am!! The bar- We only had a drink at the bar they served us a beer . the kitchen was already closed. It was about 10 pm.

Comfortable stay in Old Lille

Liked: Spacious comfortable room with nice White Company toiletries, fluffy towels and complimentary towelling robes to wear while there Good breakfast Helpful reception staff. Hotel is near the canal and the Citadelle park but near the old town Vieux Lille about 10 minutes away on foot. Hotel in old convent beautiful building
Disliked: Could have done with more lighting in our room. Lamps fine but it was a large room with no overall light. On the other hand bathroom very well lit

Lovely place to stay.

Liked: Really friendly staff, the waitress in charge of breakfast was especially helpful. We were able to ask for boiled eggs, rather than just have the scrambled eggs on offer. Tasty pastries at breakfast.Rooms are spacious.It's really impressive how they've converted the cloisters area. The bar is a nice place to sit in the evening, often with a live pianist.The mini Easter eggs at reception on Easter day were a nice little treat. White company toiletries in bathrooms.Easy location to walk to the old town or the grand place. It's nice to be by the Quay, a good place to sit in the sunshine.
Disliked: The rooms are very dark - not enough lighting! We found it strange that there weren't mattress protectors under the bottom sheets. The bottom sheets weren't quite big enough to tuck under all the way around the twin bed mattresses so during the night the sheet moved exposing the bare mattress.The scrambled eggs at breakfast were always a little cold!

Excellent central location.

Liked: Hot water didn’t work for a while and the lift was out of service but I understand things happen.

Wonderful building, let down by...

Liked: Beautiful conversion of old convent in good location.
Disliked: Disinterested staff (hotel manager, front desk, bar). Focus on convention groups.

Fantastic location but Hotel needs...

Liked: The stel is beautifully located in a quiet location. The building itself is magnificent.
Disliked: The hotel needs a serious makeover! The furbishing, interior is completely worn out. Some serious money needs to be spend here to get the value for money ratio back in sink. The quality of the breakfast was extremely poor for 19 euro per person.

Lovely calm hotel with great...

Liked: Bar and restaurant are amazing, under a glass ceiling in the middle of the hotel. Live piano player until late on a Friday, and the excellent almond and pear pie is free when you order a drink! Great range of imaginative non alcoholic cocktails and whiskeys too. Didn't have the breakfast but the selection looked good. Room is massive and well furnished, as is the bathroom - big sink, all marble everywhere! Mattress was very comfortable and all the towels and linen was very crisp and clean. Decent quality shower gel provided that doesn't dry out your skin.
Disliked: Minor point, but the fittings in the room were a bit tired - loose marble in the bathroom, desk was wobbly. Nothing major though.

Nice location but outdated facilities!

Liked: 30 years ago, maybe 40, it was surely great. It urgently requires renovation, new mattresses, new pillows, and central commands for lights if you don’t want to turn them off 1 by 1.
Disliked: Dry cleaning is only Monday Wednesday and Friday. For a 4* hotel, that’s a bit of a shame. Also, you should provide a real iron instead of something that came from the 80’s.
