Dated, tired and definitely not...

Liked: The spa was great and the surrounding area is pretty.
Disliked: Unsure how this is a 5* hotel - probably about 30 years ago! Would give it probably a 3 star tops now. VERY dated. Room was a scattering of reclaimed looking furniture and dodgy interior finishes. The whole hotel is a real mish-mash of styles! We left extremely confused at the good reviews…

Relaxing and tasteful.

Liked: We had a lovely overnight stay at Alexander House. It’s a beautiful country estate that has retained many of its historic features. The rooms were comfy and well equipped. The staff are lovely and we would certainly consider staying again.
Disliked: The breakfast could be improved upon by offering more alternate cooked options.

Fantastic and luxurious spa weekend

Liked: After a very stressful and disappointing day having our flight to Nice cancelled, we decided to stay in the UK at Alexander House. We arrived late in the evening and were warmly welcomed by Olivia and Reece who could not have done enough to make us comfortable and feel special. We are very grateful to them for their kind and excellent hospitality. Thank you.

Disappointing food not five star...

Liked: We were given a complimentary upgrade to a garden suite with balcony which was a nice bonus. Room was lovely, with beautiful views of the garden.
Disliked: Food options were really disappointing. I am gluten intolerant and the choices for lunch and dinner were minimal and not to a standard I would expect for a five star hotel. The dessert menu in evening had nothing marked as gluten free, so had to ask and was rushed through by waiter as to what I might have as an option, in the end on both nights neither myself or my friend chose anything. High street restaurants have better gluten free options and are much better managed, I felt it was a bit of an inconvenience. Lunch time bar menu even worse for options. The quality of food for the price is mismatched and feel very overpriced. Quality of service in the Reflections restaurant and Champagne Bar was mixed, I would say probably down to poor quality managers from what I observed. Well we were given an upgraded room there were a couple of niggles e..g. water left in the kettle from previous occupants and cigarette butt on balcony, again for 5 star and money paid expect better.

Liked: Very quaint and relaxing, stayed with my family for a spa weekend and we really enjoyed the whole experience.

Liked: Beautiful grounds and lovely hotel.
Disliked: Was very cold when we dined and the service was slow. At breakfast the next day it was like warm. My husband had an English breakfast and I had poached eggs on toast. We did complain and they just said ‘sorry’. Also ordered drinks with our dinner which didn’t arrive.
