Aida Plaza Hotel

I am mortified to have spent three nights here. The website completely misrepresented this place as a hotel, not a hostel. We were to have a queen bed, and we had a full at best for two people. No hot water. No amenities. Dirty. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Talk about putting a damper on our trip to Outside Lands. We were certainly looking to save money but never would have believed that this place could stay open and charge people any amount of money to stay there. Should be ashamed.

Disliked: Dangerous! We stayed Saturday & Sunday nights. On Saturday there were screams, gunshots & sirens every 10-15 minutes the entire night. 100s of Homeless ppl were everywhere.

Liked: The location, price and staff were exceptional. I would go back again just for those reasons, but due to the fires and the Santa Ana winds, it is not surprising that the electricity was out for an entire day and night, resulting in freezing temperatures. , but I adapted and overcame. I still highly recommend this location.

Liked: Location is perfect, 3 blocks away from downtown and just across the street from the BART Civic Center station (you can take the BART train to/from the airport which is super handy). Wi-Fi was super stable: I had a 8-hour online meeting for final project review in Europe and it worked flawlessly which was amazing. Compared to just 5 month before, in my previous trip, the neighborhood is also much safer at night with police and city workers always around. The staff and even the owner himself are super friendly and accommodated all my requests, this and many other times.
