Nice grounds with a lovely...

Liked: Very nice hotel with a bit of character in the old part of the building.

Liked: On entering grounds it looked nice.On leaving the car nice gardens.Leaving after our visit.
Disliked: On our arrrival the first sign we saw at reception was a hand with a finger pointing away and stating complaints 1000 miles.After we had booked in and went to our rooms we found out it was two twin rooms ,when we had booked one double and one twin room this was sorted out very quickly.We had booked bed and breakfast however they stated we had also booked evening meal and had charged us for it.The food was at evening meal a set menu with limited choices and when we arrived the dining room was very busy and there was very little food left ..We had to ask if there was any sweet as there was none left.The food we did get was not very good.The menu was put up each day ,thus you did not know what was on the menu until you got back from your day out.We did not eat any evening meal after the first night experience. One member of staff even suggested we get a takeaway sent in Breakfast was ok,except frozen bread on the Sunday.Our room was quite small,the bathroom very tired and dated,the bath taps very difficult to turn on,as its main clientel are elderly they could find them hard to turn on.,also there was no prersonal hygene boxes in any of our rooms.No room service.,when questioned I was informed room serviced every 5 days if you request it,You had to go to reception and ask for clean towels and anything else you needed.Our room was dated and in serious need.of refurb.This hotels main trade is from tour buses and it can get very busy at the set meal times of just 2 hours duration..We did not expect 5 star luxury,however,we did expect better than what we gotThe overall rating of 2.5 stars from all the reviews says it all.

Disliked: We were given a room that hadn't been clean from the previous occupier they moved us to another room, the window catch was broken, but worst of all, there's was blood on the toilet roll which was disgusting, you get what you pay for but that was not pleasant we've stayed there 3 times before, needless to say there won't be a 4rh

Liked: The breakfast was good and plenty to eat
Disliked: The bed was terrible it was like sleeping on a board and every time you moved it would make large creaking noises which woke you up Hence a bad night sleep Even the floor boards creaked as well The heating was on all day in the corridors the whole place was like a sauna

A pleasant short stay.

Liked: Lovely hotel in it's own grounds, great staff very friendly and helpful. Alistair on the front desk was very helpful.
Disliked: The bathroom was a little dated but everything worked well. Good value for money.
