Beautiful estate
Liked: The estate is very beautiful. The single room was good. Breakfast was also good. Staff is kind and helpful.
Disliked: No hot water in the shower. Only two hangers in the wardrobe.

Very nice stay - shame...
Liked: Breakfast, the main house and the grounds.
Disliked: The accommodation blocks are of a very different standard to the main house, resembling student accommodation. The room was very noisy. Being on the ground floor you could hear people walking above and extremely loud creaking floorboards. Sounded like an elephant pacing overhead. I suggest anyone staying requests a room on the top floor.

Good place to escape in...
Liked: Comfortable bed. Great breakfast.
Disliked: The room a little stark. The road up to the block very narrow, I was grateful no car was coming in the opposite direction.Larger cups for tea and coffee at breakfast would have been lovely. Better still little tea pots for tea.

Terrible communication, lack of respect,...
Liked: There are some pros, it's really beautiful location if you manage to find it and have a different room than the basement one with no view. There is a tiny museum next to the reception worth visiting and this was the only highlight of our visit.
Disliked: It could be at least a good experience, if the owners and staff could show some respect to their guests. First of all getting there was an issue not because of the road closure and diversion sign, but lack of any information to ignore this sign! We noticed the diversion and stopped to call the hotel to ask for the best route, 5 calls remained unannswered, so we followed the diversion, only to discover that we should do the opposite! Why there is no sign from the owners on the road or at least email communication before arrival? Secondly, although kindly confirmed by email booking an accessible room, in a building with a ramp, we were allocated to a room in this building, but in a basement, which can be accessed through a few flights of stairs only, and with a shower, which was definitely not accessible! The room in Canterbury building was very basic, with comfortable beds and seemed clean enough, until we used the bathroom and ventilation started blowing dust all over toilet and anyone trying to use it. If you count on dining there, better bring your own food. On the website there is bistro mentioned, but receptionist told us they don't serve any dinners and gave us a list of the nearby pubs. Breakfast was good, although for such a large number of guests there was only one serving station and a long queue for hot food, with some items finishing quickly. You have to search for staff to ask them to replenish missing items and wait several minutes to have them cooked. The main house rooms or cottages may be better quality, but Canterbury and Broomhill definitely don't deserve 4 stars mentioned on Google. It's maximum 2 star hotel, comparable to average Travelodge (the ones serving hot food), but twice as expensive.
