Above Tide Motel

Very good

Liked: All rooms have an excellent sea view and it is actually possible to see whales passing by from there. We saw a group of orcas (binoculars required). Facilities great. Dawn spectacular.
Disliked: Nothing except it's not really walkable into downtown.

Clean, convenient location with great...

Liked: Great staff, convenient location, and great views of Quadra Island from the balcony. The unit was fully equipped with a kitchen and everything was clean and in good working order. The staff was excellent, friendly and very helpful with suggestions for things to do.
Disliked: The rooms face east so as soon as the sun comes up it's A) super bright and B) super hot in the main living area where one of the beds is also located. The air conditioner was only in the one bedroom - which we didn't sleep in because it had no curtains and there was a bright light fixture directly outside the window. Would probably be great in a cooler season, but was a little too hot for us during the peak of summer (28C temps outside).

Liked: we were thrilled to find out there were laundry facilities! all staff were very helpful and friendly!
Disliked: Parking was sometimes difficult. it all worked out though.

Liked: Great location and staff.
Disliked: There was a lingering smell of smoke that made it hard to sleep.

Lovely view, comfy beds.

Liked: The beds were comfortable, and Paul was very friendly and helpful. View from the room was very nice, and there was a lovely breeze coming in from the water.Nice sites close by, and close (by car) to lots of shopping and restaurant experiences. (Beautiful waterfall views at Elk Falls.)
Disliked: Parking lot was very tight and sometimes a challenge to get an SUV in. But, that is not really something that can be helped due to the limited distance between the front of the motel and the road.Locks on doors could be updated.Coversation from upstairs neighbors could be heard clearly late into the night.

Good

Liked: The view, the good sized room, the comfy bed and the fact that everything was clean.
Disliked: The room was quite dark.
