Hotel Description
A friendly family-run hotel located in one of Fife's picturesque coastal villages specializing in fresh fare using local Scottish produce where possible. Real ale is always available on tap and the establishment has once again been included in this year's 'Camra' Good Beer Guide. Although the buildings date back to the 17th century all 16 bedrooms have private bathrooms and tea and coffee making facilities. Free on street parking is available just across the road and further parking spaces can be found within 328 feet from the hotel. The hotel is an ideal base for touring golf breaks and for visiting Edinburgh which is just 30 minutes by car/rail with the station just one minute's walk away.

Friendly village pub

Liked: All the staff were good. The guy that takes your drinks order and waits tables is a machine. He was there from lunchtime to close one day and was there for breakfast the next morning. I suspect they could do with more staff. The dining area and bar was a really nice space. The food was nice and I enjoyed every dinner. The food and drink was very reasonably priced too.The location was really nice, and the village had lovely walks along the Fife Coastal walk. We walked from aberdour to dalgety bay one day and caught the train back to aberdour. The hotel is 30 minutes by train to Edinburgh.
Disliked: I didn't like the pillows. They were like 2 flat rocks. Its an old pub and there is going to be compromises with the room configuration and that is part of the charm but if you are a larger person you may have difficulties with the shower in room 8. One morning the cutlery and crockery at breakfast was not clean but the next day at breakfast it was fine. When we were there the last train to Aberdour from Edinburgh at night left at 11.07 pm which we weren't aware of. It meant we caught an Uber back to the hotel for £47 after the military tattoo ended at 11pm. Although it was still much cheaper than staying in Edinburgh.

Accommodation far from Dour in...

Liked: The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, especially the lady who was in charge of breakfast/housekeeping!The location was excellent, lovely and scenic whilst only a 2 min walk to the train station and a 30 min journey into Edinburgh. The room was cosy, clean and comfortable, can't ask for much more. The food was superb and some great drink options (Timmy Taylors Landlord)
Disliked: The room key was on a keyring, which was a cord with a cork ball on the end. It was a bit awkward to try and put in your pocket. Only a very minor issue!

Pleasant

Liked: The staff were very friendly. The location was very nice.
Disliked: The price was high for the standard of the hotel. The window wouldn't open and although a fan was provided it was still very hot at night (it was unseasonably warm though). The food was expensive for the quality of it. The room overall was clean but the shower head and shower hose both had some black mould on them.
