V G, Edinburgh, visiting The Lemon Tree Aberdeen
Liked: Everything about the hotel was excellent - the lovely entrance area; well appointed room with everything thought of for the traveller, even an iron and board! The bed was large and very comfortable. The breakfast was absolutely amazing - the most generous spread we have ever seen in any B&B situation! The staff were all bright, cheerful, helpful and very professional. We highly recommend this hotel.
Disliked: Very limited car parking and difficult to stop outside. We parked overnight in a car park recommended a 5 minute walk away, for which the hotel gave us a 20% discount card. From 7.30 p.m. to 11 a.m. the next day the cost was £11.40.

Very good
Disliked: On returning to hotel at approx 2245 there was no bar facilities. We were given the names of 2 pubs that we could go to. Not really hospitable

Very good
Liked: The public areas were done nicely and the staff were very nice
Disliked: Room was a bit dark. Bathroom requires some attention. Invest either in a larger TV or provide binoculars to watch it.

It was a place to...
Liked: The bathroom was nice and the tub was great!
Disliked: The room smelled liked bleach for hours after check in. Pretty old and outdated room. Marks and stains everywhere. They gave us a room under the stairs and people were stomping around throughout the evening and night. Bed was hard. Challenging to find parking garage.

Eat at Molly’s bistro, stay...
Liked: The staff was friendly; the attached restaurant, Molly’s bistro, offered a variety of good food. The complementary breakfast was very good!
Disliked: The room was very uncomfortable. There appeared to be no climate control besides a window open approximately 8 inches. The other window could not be opened and the room was hot and stuffy. The beds had hard/worn out mattresses. The carpet was stained, and as my husband said, looked like a “crime scene photo“!

Central but noisy, hot &...
Liked: Location
Disliked: Room & bed were too hot; opening the old sash windows was an ordeal. To cool the room, the windows had to be open. But that meant getting ALL the very loud street noise with the draught. Annoying choice. Also, the double glazing window panes were VERY shaky & fell out, nearly decapitated me! Add extremely creaky floors, a tiny toilet, unusable round-pin bedside sockets from the 1940’s, a cramped bathroom and (while it has its charms, nice staff & is kept very clean) the Douglas only rates an “okay” rating. It could go much further with some real investment in the fittings.
