Liked: The art work in the breakfast bar
Disliked: Where do I start with this hotel. I hated taking the stairs with no elevator, the low doors frames, the terrible colours and the carpet. The worst of all was the bed which had to be flipped and twisted overnight. I could not get comfortable for love or money. Your mattresses are really dated and need to be replaced. This building should never be used as a modern hotel. It simply unrealistic for wheelchair access. The keys to accessing the rooms were difficult to open. The floors and doors were built for people on an average height of 5ft 7. If you are above this height you will hit your head on door frames .The building was never designed for people of this stature. Sadly the light fittings in the rooms were not checked and did not work above the sink. The flip out iron board looked great but the iron did not work either. The attention to detail was poor overall. The hotel was always clean but it missed out on a sanitary / sharps bin / spare toilet rolls /soap dispensers / gel anywhere and especailly toilets and showers. The carpets on the stairs are such a trip hazard too and will continue to do so as they get worn. I can only tick this box for student accommodation. It certainly does not meet the needs of our elderly growing population/ business users I had to share a bathroom and it was cold all the time. Sadly I would not like to bring my family here as I could not see where I could change the children's nappies or have the space to deal with their mobile needs. Not ideal for pushchairs and their storage or supporting a young family. I have reflected on this visit and on balance feel the building requires refurbishment in some places. Mostly the top floor requires work. It is a beautiful old building with cultural heritage. However, it struggles to meet the needs and demands of the 21st traveller. The staff were very welcoming and It was a fantastic visit to an amazing city.
