Liked: Absolutely love the property! The artwork in the museum and on our floor as we exited the elevator was fascinating. Our room was very comfortable, contemporary and clean. We will go out of our way to stay here again.

Comfortable, visually impressive Museum/Hotel. Don't...
Liked: This hotel is a Contemporary Art Museum and I loved 'staying amongst the art'. Art is literally everywhere. Dinner at the bar was good and the bartender was very helpful. Rooms are big and the beds are comfortable. I wanted to give this hotel a great review but I had two major issues.
Disliked: The first issue is parking. There is a valet, but, one wouldn't know that by pulling in front of the hotel because there is no pull in driveway. You basically must just stop on the street in front of the hotel. After driving past the front of the hotel I called the hotel from the car to ask how to park. That is when I learned there was a valet. We decided to self park because we were closer to the parking deck behind the hotel. Unfortunately we had to walk through active construction (including construction trash-nails, screws, dust, etc) and past hotel dumpsters to get to the front of the hotel. Secondly, and more importantly, the morning of checkout I picked up an 'unused, upside down, supposedly clean' glass in the bathroom. I ran water from the faucet into the glass and took a drink. A big glob of something went down my throat (I still get ill thinking about it). I stopped drinking poured the water out and looked at the bottom of the glass. The bottom was covered in some bubbly scum. I ran my finger over it to make sure it wasn't water and it was not water! My best guess is that someone had cleared their mucous covered throat and spit it in the glass. It was truly disgusting. I called the front desk to inform them of what happened and was told that the front desk employees didn't clean the rooms so it was no fault of theirs, but, they would call housekeeping to see who had cleaned the room. When I checked out (10 minutes after the call) I was offered a free breakfast to compensate for the incident. I did not accept that breakfast. We then walked (past the dumpsters and around the construction) to the car.

Liked: Gorgeous rooms. Staff were very helpful. Not a typical hotel given the art installations etc.
Disliked: The common areas felt cold and unwelcoming.

Liked: The hotel is unique, full of art. The rooms are huge compared to a standard hotel room. Very comfortable beds and pillows. The Wifi not super fast but adequate. The location was great. Within walking distance of the Memorial, the art museum, the botanical gardens and other attractions.
Disliked: We were shocked to return back to our room in the early evening to find our room had not been cleaned. When I brought our trash can down to the front desk (because we had thrown banana peels in - expecting the trash would be emptied), we did get an apology and a shrug. They were willing to have housekeeping come up and clean - but we really didn't want to go out again - we wanted to settle in for the night. Yes, snafu's happen - but I've never had this particular one happen before.
