Exceptional

Good location and facilities, but...

Liked: Good location, walkable to the city centre (about 20min) and close to direct airport tram. Clean facilities.
Disliked: Poor communication and no one ever at reception. When we arrived, no one answered the door or phone. Finally we found some people out the back but they didn’t understand English so we had trouble communicating who we were and that we wanted to check-in. They eventually gave us a key from a key box outside, so I’m not sure why we couldn’t have been given the code directly to unlock it for self check-in. It’s also listed as having daily housekeeping, but we needed a refill on tea/coffee during our stay and no one was ever around to ask. Also with the breakfast- it didn’t seem to be offered anymore.On our last morning a man unlocked and opened our door without knocking, while we were still in bed! This was obviously an uncomfortable experience.

Disliked: We were originally put into a room that had not been checked nor cleaned. Once we let staff know about this mistake, we were immediately moved to a cleaned room.

Fantastic gem in the heart...

Liked: Room was modern, spotless very comfortable and tastefully decorated complete with a wee mini fridge, tea and even a wee coffee press.. For the cost we were extremely surprised how nice this room was and its one of the nicest places I have stayed in Edinburgh. Its 4 min taxi to the playhouse or a ten min walk in a straight line so impossible to get lost. Trams and buses on the corner so plenty public transport if you dont want to walk. We will definitely be back.
Disliked: Lot of stairs but this is edinburgh and its what you have to expect in older properties but thats just nit picking its part of the charm of the old buildings.

Good accommodation for our short...

Liked: Easy access and good location. Clean and warm.
Disliked: We were in an attic room with twin beds and the height restrictions were a little uncomfortable for my 6ft son. The private bathroom on the landing was really small too.
