Great location. A 5 minute walk from Union Station, close to TTC stops, with lots of places to eat within walking distance. If you're looking to spend a few days in Toronto and prefer not to bring your own vehicle, the Strathcona is a solid central spot.

Liked: Room was clean; the bed comfortable; staff friendly.
Disliked: We were put in a room right next to one undergoing construction, which we didn't know about until the workers started up early in the morning.

We enjoyed our stay. Surprised how small the room was but we didn't mind since we were only there to sleep. We would stay again. It was a great location - close to everything we needed.

Liked: Very clean room. Comfortable bed. Love the fact that it has hardwood floors and not carpet!
Disliked: There was no fan in the bathroom which made it really damp and hot. Saw some mold in the corner of the wall, most likely due to this issue.

Comfortable, efficient stay but lacking...

Liked: Awesome location, stylish common areas, very safe at all times of day/night. Staff were pretty accommodating, the room was very clean and the bed was not amazing but comfy and sturdy.
Disliked: The rooms are pretty dark and the forced coverings were annoying. While I was facing a back alley and other rooms of the hotel, it would have been nice to be able to adjust the window covers as much as I want. Would have added natural light and air to the room.

underwhelming experience

Liked: For anyone taking the train to/from Toronto, the location of this hotel is excellent.
Disliked: The room (two twin beds) was SO small. There was no fridge in the room. There were so many charges on my credit card (deposit, first night, final charge) and they were all different from what I had been quoted / invoiced for in person. It took about 4 days for my credit card to finally be reconciled to the proper amount... in the mean time I checked the progress everyday to ensure proper billing. Size, cost, billing experience and overall underwhelming experience will not having me returning to this establishment.

The hotel was well located...

Liked: I liked the cleanliness of the bathroom. The Ukrainian lady who served me breakfast each morning was an absolutely delightful person, so friendly, accommodating, efficient and energetic.
Disliked: The furniture in the room I stayed in definitely needs to be updated. The walls were very drab. A cozy chair and a lamp would add to the comfort of the room. I didn't like the $150 damage charge.I've never ever encountered that before in all my hotel visits.

Liked: Location is excellent, minutes walk to Union Station, CN Tower, and other venues. Lots of restaurants, shopping and bars in walking distance. Hotel and rooms are basic but clean and comfortable enough, especially for a short stay. I would stay again for this price.
Disliked: Rooms are small and slightly dated, but clean and comfortable for the price.
