Pretty place but simply no...

Liked: The Packhorse is a very charming pub with rooms in a fairly non-descript village outside Newmarket. The rooms we were allocated in the courtyard were well furnished, very comfortable beds, clean and individually charming. The staff when we arrived at lunchtime were very kind, although they did seem a little disorganised. It was unseasonably cold for the time of year (the Mayday Bank holiday) and extremely windy. We were given blankets.
Disliked: Eating lunch in an open courtyard. Having an umbrella on the table with a large circumference fly off , nearly hitting my daughter and actually sail over the roof whilst eating lunch. Being served dinner in a freezing cold teepee, because they had run out of gas for the heaters in temperatures of 6'C and as a consequence eating food that was stone cold as soon as it left the kitchen. The excuses for not having heating in such windy and cold conditions were really not acceptable.
