If you're looking for a...

Liked: Excellent location in the heart of town, directly opposite the train station.Well priced.Clean and tidy.Shopping, dining and bars all within easy walking distance from the hotel.
Disliked: No dining facilities currently available, but there are numerous food outlets and bars within easy walking distance, so not really an issue.

Be aware of the 100...

Liked: The location is ideal for work.
Disliked: BEWARE - On arrival this visit I was told I?d have to pay 100 deposit on the room on top of the price I?d paid for the two nights I?d booked. I?ve been using this hotel for the last two years for work and never had to pay this before and argued this and that at no point during booking did it mention this. I told the receptionist that I wanted to cancel my booking if this was the case and I didn?t have to pay. Speaking to a colleague the following day who also used to use this hotel had paid the deposit, which is supposed to be paid back in 5-7 working days. It took him over a month to get it back and they only way he did was to physically go back and insist they paid it back to him.I will be avoiding this hotel from now on.

Not as good as when...

Liked: It is convenient for the Railway Station.
Disliked: The Hotel is undergoing restoration so the restaurant and Bar were closed. The Hotel is looking tired and needs work to bring it back to how it used to be.

Basic yet comfortable and clean

Liked: Thank you - a member of staff came out to help show me where to park
Disliked: The shower - I turned it on and the whole bathroom floor got soaked - bathrooms could do with an upgrade

Perfectly acceptable overnight stay in...

Liked: Good value, passably OK town centre hotel, great for an overnight stay in Halifax. Parking by permit in a separate car park (c. 150m away, across the main road). Desk staff polite and helpful. All as expected for the price.

Hoping for a better future.

Liked: Good location, ideal for train station. Short walk into town centre. Pleasant staff. We booked a Superior Double Room, it was spacious with a large bathroom which included a bath and overhead shower. Good shower.Warm bedroom, clean bedding, tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Disliked: No restaurant or bar. Very tired looking furniture and fittings. Old, worn furniture. Only one lamp in double bedroom and this had a broken lampshade. The bedroom was at the front of the Hotel, nice view of the hills, but old windows resulted in hearing traffic noise and some drafts. No heating in the large bathroom.Quite noisy, could hear virtually everything from other rooms and bathrooms. This is a large Hotel and looking at older reviews it appears to have been undergoing renovation for some time. I appreciate that this must be an extremely costly undertaking for the owners. Especially with the additional problems for this industry in recent years. It could be magnificent and I hope that it will be.In it's current condition, we are unlikely to return.

My husband and and I...

Liked: The location is really good and the reception area is nice. The hotel as we understand is under redevelopment therefore some facilities were not available such as bar and food.
Disliked: Dated room, curtains worn ripped and stained but room very clean. 100 deposit on arrival was not necessary in this day and age. Stayed at the same time as my sister and her husband who arrived after us who didn?t have to pay the deposit, why?. You have to give car details for the car park.
