A gem of a boutique...
Liked: We LOVED the hotel & LOVED the location! Even during covid we enjoyed meeting friends in the parlor room and chatting. And chatting out on the top back patio.
Disliked: The beds & pillows were average. The freezing cold, and soggy Complementary breakfast was not at a standard for this hotel. It shouldn?t be offered. If it wasn?t on the website, we wouldn?t of known there was a restaurant with this hotel, therefore never used it.

Liked: Polite, helpful and friendly staff. Despite COVID, a very pleasant continental breakfast with excellent coffee that can be had in your room or in the attractive restaurant.
Disliked: The small double bedroom while cosy, clean, attractive and with a balcony and view over the picturesque garden/courtyard, has indeed a "small double" bed. It really is a little narrow, and short, for a couple but probably very comfortable for a single.

A unique, historic and upscale...
Liked: We had to push back our reservation by a day immediately prior to arriving; all of our previous requests were re-confirmed and delivered to our utmost satisfaction. The reception we received checking in was superb, including an excellent recommendation at a nearby Pub / Restaurant given our intention to go exploring. [ Turned out to be one of the highlights of our brief time in Halifax! ] The Halliburton is a beautifully renovated boutique hotel comprised of three, large historic town homes. While we hesitantly passed on eating in the hotel's charming and top-rated restaurant, we will certainly do so on a return stay; the menu and décor are both first class. There is a large patio and garden across the entire rear of the property which is ideal for morning coffee, lunch and/or evening drinks and apps, subject to the weather. Lots of nicely spaced seating, tables with shade umbrellas and a charming water feature in the groomed gardens surrounded by large trees. The professional and attentive service was again evidenced in the morning when the Duty Manager provided take-away coffees and prepared a delicious boxed breakfast, based on our selection of tempting offerings. With the restrictions on regular morning dining, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the upscale continental breakfast far exceeded our expectations! Additionally, the hotel Management and staff have taken every precaution to ensure their guests are properly looked after. We felt entirely comfortable and safe during our time indoors.
Disliked: Although our lovely, spacious room was well appointed with upscale, classic furniture, the wooden frame of the large, four-poster bed squeaked loudly whenever an occupant shifted position during the night. Fortunately, the mattress was comfortable and made for a mostly good night's sleep.

Excellent location. Will return.
Liked: Suite was great, with free parking on site and staff were fantastic. Hard to beat location for easy access to waterfront and fine dining. All walkable. Would highly recommend for those who enjoy the boutique hotel experience.
Disliked: Breakfast was cold box lunch style with no variation over four night stay. Would prefer hot breakfast with some variety. Now that onsite restaurant has reopened (on our last night), perhaps this can be addressed. Room TV was quite small by today?s standards.
