Liked: The location in the centre of the village was great, it?s only a short car ride and your in the Lake District, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful and our room was huge, especially the en-suite, breakfast was good.
Disliked: Unfortunately there was no bar food available but it?s only a temporary situation until the new chef arrives

Liked: Lovely place, blinds broken and left on windowsill but overall great place. Lovely bar man, made us feel welcome with a 15year old and fab breakfast. Had to drive to Kendal to be able to eat. Would be a good location for walking etc in summer but nothing much to do in winter. Pool table bonus.

Disliked: Rooms and en suites need updating... no meals other than breakfast available due to changing tenant. CERTAINLY NOT AA****.... don't know when that was last done, but very misleading to still display ****

Disliked: They took £50 holding fee which meant we had to cancel our anniversary meal, they blamed booking.com, the room and bathroom was dirty (we have pictures) and there are no evening meals now apparently which they do not tell you until you arrive. Thoroughly disgusted.

A lovely stopover.
Liked: Obviously, as it is waiting for a new landlord, things are a bit in turmoil. However, the chap behind the bar booked us in and was extremely helpful. As there was no chef, due to management changes, we had to eat at a place just around the corner called 'No.17', which was brilliant. Despite no chef a lovely full English breakfast was cooked in the morning.
Despite being at the main crossroads, the secondary glazing worked well and we had no traffic problems.
A friendly place that we will return to if the management is as good as the staff.
Disliked: Needs a bit of upgrading.

Easy, comfortable and relaxed
Liked: Lay out of the family room was great for our child to go to sleep and we could watch TV / have a drink without disturbing him
Disliked: There was no decaf tea and I'm pregnant so no choice other than orange juice at breakfast and water in the room
